Discover New Places with Google Maps’ Local Guides

Google Maps can do more than just give people directions from one location to another. All over the world, people use Google Maps to search for the best restaurant, the perfect place for a night out, or the coziest coffee shop. To help people find the best spots, a community of Local Guides on Google Maps share their experiences by writing reviews and sharing photos, lists, and so on. There are 120 million active Local Guides spread across 24,000 cities and towns, and Google Maps last week announced that a new feature will bring the Local Guides’ recommendations closer to the users. 

The feature will be tested out in nine different cities all over the world: Bangkok, Delhi, London, Mexico City, New York, Osaka, San Francisco, São Paulo, and Tokyo. People living in these cities will soon be able to see top Local Guides featured in the For You tab on the Google Maps app. You can follow your favorite Local Guides which will make their recommendations show up when you use the Google Maps app to inspire you to try out new food places and experiences. Allow yourself to be inspired by people who love good food and a fun night out just as much as you! So are you ready to try out this new feature? Who knows - maybe you'll end up finding your new favorite go-to place.

The feature has received a warm welcome already. We’re excited about this update and hope to soon see feature roll out to more cities as well.
